Thank you very much to everyone who has offered suggestions on more Local Loves! I can't wait to check all of them out! Now that the summer is in full swing, D.C. is alive with amazing weekend festivals, farmers markets, outdoor expo's, etc. I wish I could write about all of them, but since I couldn't possibly find the time while holding down my "real job" (the one that actually pays), I will try to focus on those that aren't as well publicized. A big thank you to Kari Harris for suggesting the 2011 U.S. Air Guitar Regional Championship Finals to be held tonight.
Here is what you need to know:
What: A rocking event where local musicians are encouraged to show off their best guitar-slamming tricks, sans guitar. The winner will go onto the national championship, and hopefully the world championship in Finland.
Where: 9:30 Club located at 815 V Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20001
When: Tonight (Saturday, June 11, 2011). Doors open at 7:00 pm.
Cost: Tickets are listed at $20 on the 9:30 Club Website
Side Note: Watch out for their drinks called "Blue Things." These delicious frozen concoctions pack a far more powerful punch than you might expect....I speak from experience.
Fortunately, we have a big family gathering tonight...unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this hilarious event! If you go, please send comments and pics!
